Orlando, Florida is an extremely popular tourist destination thanks to the amount of family attractions on offer there, such as the enormous amounts of theme parks and the amazing beaches where you can happily spend the day. Here is a guide to the top tourist attractions that the whole family can enjoy.
Walt Disney World
Every child who loves Disney knows that the home of Mickey Mouse is at Walt Disney World. The theme park has plenty to do for people of all ages, even toddlers. If you have gotten bored of queuing for the more popular rides such as Splash Mountain, then you can always enjoy one of the parades, musicals or the amazing fireworks shows that are shown daily.
If you come to Walt Disney World during the winter or holiday months, you will be treated to snow falling down along the main street.
Another popular attraction amongst the younger people in the family, Discovery Cove gives you the opportunity to go swimming with dolphins in a private cove, feed some exotic birds and snorkel around the tropical reef which has plenty of fish and rays for you to enjoy.
There is an age limit to who can swim with the dolphins, with children being required to be six years old at least. If you’re all-clear with the age limit though, Orlando could make a great last minute Christmas trip, looking online for flights to Orlando is a great place to start. The site of Discovery Cove also offers you the chance to relax on some quiet beaches without having to drive to the coast. Some of the packages that the Discovery Cove offers also give you unlimited admission to another great attraction, SeaWorld.
Disney Hollywood Studios
Fans of the Disney films will not want to miss this particular theme park. Disney Hollywood Studios gives your kids the opportunity to meet their favourite cast members such as the Little Mermaid, the Toy Story ensemble and Belle and the Beast. You will also be able to experience some of the movies first hand, such as in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area.
Epcot offers the chance for visitors to experience a different kind of theme park. Inside, you will find chances to dine and shop in 11 different ‘countries’ while you can also take a ride to travel around the world. An example of the kind of rides in the park includes Future World which allows your children to explore space, the ocean and the Earth’s core.
Filled with numerous amazing sea life, SeaWorld is a popular destination for families. The park gives you the chance to get up close and personal with animals such as dolphins, beluga whales, sea lions, penguins and a host of other aquatic life. There are also some great rides on the site although you should prepare to get wet on the water coasters.
