Every year more than 26 million people descend on the UK’s capital to soak up its vast array of culture and fantastic tourist attractions. Whether you love the great outdoors or are in your element exploring the urban jungle, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained in the Big Smoke.

Whatever your interests, there are plenty of exciting and educational museums in London and they make a great place to spend a rainy day. Home to more than 70 million specimens from the pre-historic to the modern day, The National History Museum is free to look around and will keep visitors of all ages entertained. The Science Museum next door also boasts seven full floors of permanent and temporary exhibits and hands-on activities as well as an IMAX theatre. The Imperial War Museum is also a great place to read detailed war stories from both citizens and soldiers.
London is a city steeped in history and you’ll never be far away from some of the world’s most famous historical sights. From the Crown Jewels and the famous Beefeaters at the Tower of London to the Interactive London Bridge Experience and Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, this is a great way to become acquainted with the story of the city and there are some great photo opportunities to be had too!
Towering 443 feet above London, the London Eye is arguably the city’s most famous attraction. Ride in one of the Ferris wheel’s glass capsules and you’ll be treated to a birds-eye view of the city and see sights up to 25 miles away. For a walk on the wild side, head over to London Zoo where you’ll find over 650 species of animals.
Britain’s Royal Family is arguably the most famous in the world and you’ll find a huge selection of sights and attractions dedicated to its history. From royal palaces such as Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and Hampton Court Palace to the Queen’s official residence at Windsor Castle, these special buildings have also been called home by famous monarchs such as Henry VIII and Princess Diana.
As well as great attractions within the city, you’ll also find a whole host of things to discover just a short drive away. From the majestic Warwick Castle to Shakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon and a paradise for the kids at Legoland Windsor there’s plenty to discover away from the city, and you might just beat the crowds. Look out for cheap car rentals so you can make the most of your trip!
Shopping & Eating
For great shopping, dining and nightlife all in one place, Piccadilly Circus is your best bet. If shopping is top of your list you should head to Europe’s largest department store, Harrods, where you’ll also find food halls and a shrine to the memory of Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed.
