My kids love the beach and my husband loves the golf … but what I love about Las Palomas Resort in Rocky Point, Mexico is the food! There are two of the best restaurants I have ever experienced in Las Palomas.
Las Maria Bistro is a four-diamond gourmet dining room offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My first love is Mexican cuisine, but a close second is French. La Maria takes the best of each of these distinct styles and combines them in spectacular ways. Imagine crepes wrapped around rich local seafood that is bathed in a spicy crème sauce. Sink your teeth into a luscious Filet Mignon grilled carne asada style. Crisp, fresh salads garnished with Serrano peppers and cilantro. And the desserts! Classic French Crème cakes with a dulce de leche twist of caramelized sugar and cinnamon. I spent what seems like hours at their breakfast buffet nibbling on piece after piece of French toast that was perfectly crunchy on the outside, yet creamy on the inside. Topped with a mountain of fruit, their French toast is something I dream about long after I return home.
The restaurant in Phase II of Las Palomas is aptly named Citron. Every dish is just as fresh as the name implies. The chef creates a daily menu that changes with whatever is garden-fresh in the market, then infuses it with a French touch that makes the food as elegant as the ambiance. The seafood dishes are to die for. Made from that day’s catch and glazed with fresh squeezed citrus juices, you will never taste fish as succulent and flavorful as this. Citron’s bar is exceptional too. If you just stop by for a nightcap, you will be amazed at the innovative ways standard cocktails are prepared, always surprising you with a new twist.
The beach is king at Las Palomas, but the food is queen!
