Las Golondrinas – Barcelona’s Harbor and Coast tour

Experience Barcelona from a totally different perspective with ´Las Golondrinas´, and enjoy the view from the other site. It is summertime and what is better than joining a boat trip during your vacation and stay at a hotel in Barcelona! You have the choice, whether to join the short harbor cruise, where you will see the marine, the fishing harbor and the cargo port, or joining the long harbor cruise. During the long cruise ´Port I Litoral´ (Harbor and Coast) you will discover the post facilities and the nice views but you will also cross the open sea alongside the coast until the other end of the city, where Port Fòrum is located. The harbor tour will last for approximately 35 minutes and the Port I Litorial cruise approximately 1, 5 hour.

The Las Golondrinas Company, which is meaning The Swallows, is assumed on the occasion of the Worlds Exhibition in 1888 and their first operation activities were intended to show visitors of Barcelona the harbor from the seaside. Nowadays, Las Golondrinas is the only company in Barcelona which provides harbor cruises.

Classic, Double-floor and Wooden Boats

For the harbor cruises, the classis, double-floor, wooden boats are used. The open design of these 18 meters long and 5 meters wide boats makes them not suitable for the open sea. That is the reason for using these boats for the short cruises. These boats have space for just 200 passengers.

Catamarans
For the Port I Litoral (Harbor and Coast) cruises, modern two-floors Catamarans are used. Compared to the classic wooden boats it is not possible to draw a sun protection on the upper floor, which makes it perfect to put out in the sun. But do not forget you sun protector if you want to sit outside!
On the lower floor you can find a bar where you can buy fresh drinks and there are bathrooms for disabled.
Really fascination is the lower deck of the catamarans, where you can look through a glass floor to sea the water world. The entrances to the lower deck are locates at the front of the cabin.

The Harbor Tour
During the 35-minutes Harbor tour you will pass the port and the fishing port of Barcelona. You will pass the Torre Del Rellogte, which formerly was a lighthouse at the entrance of the fishing harbor and which is a clock nowadays.
The trip continues with sailing under the bride Pont de la Porta d´Europa. This bridge can be lifted up for big container ships. At the Moll Contradic where bulk material such as wheat is loaded, the tour goes over to the container terminal, where huge cranes are waiting to unload giant container ships and load them again, within a few hours. Thereafter you will see car loading stations from SEAT, since they are located near Barcelona at the coast side. Finally the boat turns back by passing the outer docks for cruise ships.

Harbor and Coast Tour
The harbor and coast tour will last for approximately 1, 5 hour. Firstly, the tour starts at the harbor and goes directly into the open sea. During the trip you will pass the beaches of Barceloneta, the port Olympic, the Vila Olympic, the beaches of Nova Icària and Bogatell and then from Mar Bella and Nova Mar Bella to Port Fòrum. This port can be identified by giant solar panels, which were installed there. Finally the tour goes back to the harbor, where you can enjoy the view from the other site for the last minutes.
