As the autumn months approach packing for travel becomes a little bit trickier. While often afternoons are still very hot, the mornings and evenings can be very cool. There’s some simple tricks to keep your packing limited to a single suitcase and still ensure your comfort throughout the day in any situation you might find yourself. The trick to staying comfortable throughout the day without many trips back to the hotel room to change is to dress in layers that can be easily added or removed as the temperature warrants. Since carrying around a jacket, sweater, and hat makes for quite an armful by the afternoon simplifying things makes for a more pleasant day.
One fall travel essential that should be included on any outing is a body warmer vest. This versatile piece of clothing allows you to keep your book core body warm and comfortable while arms are free. Unlike a jacket that needs to be removed anytime stepping inside, a vest can be worn comfortably while having a quick lunch or walking through a store. When afternoon temperatures become too warm, it is light and easy to carry or to stow as the appropriate. The outdoor look also makes for a bold fashion statement that goes well for most occasions.
Choice of footwear can be tricky in the later months. While sandals may work for several hours in the afternoon, in the evenings and mornings they are not only uncomfortable but will be completely out of place. Go with closed toe casual shoes, fashionable sneakers, or a loafer. Trying to wear sandals or flip-flops later in the year is awkward so it is better to just leave them off the packing list.
Lightweight long sleeved shirts can be worn comfortably in the afternoon and by simply adding a tie and a jacket will be ready for dinner in the cool evenings. For slacks stick to darker colors and medium weight fabrics to ensure comfort in the mornings and evenings. The relatively short afternoons are usually tolerable in the longer pants rather than bothering to change into shorts for the afternoon and being forced to go back to change again before the cooler evenings.
By choosing to pack for the season instead of trying to pack for the summer temperature afternoon plus cooler mornings and evenings you’ll build a fit everything into one suitcase and save yourself trying to guess what the weather will be all day.
